✓ public safety

Mesa residents should be able to raise their families in safety without worrying about crime, drugs, the impact of mental health, and homeless issues in their neighborhoods.

My 30 years in law enforcement have made it clear to me that we need our state government to do more. I will be a voice to empower local law enforcement, address serious mental illness appropriately, and work to stop human trafficking and the flow of drugs coming across our border.

Arizona also needs to get creative and tough to force the federal government to take our border crisis seriously and give us the tools we need to protect ourselves and end the chaos. Safety and quality of life go hand in hand. I will not allow Mesa to be the dumping ground for problems our state isn’t solving. Instead, I’ll look for every opportunity available to ensure that our laws are being enforced and public safety is effective in our communities.

✓ lower cost of living

We should be able to afford groceries, gas, electricity, and rent or buy a home in a safe neighborhood. But today, we’re paying more to buy less and our kids can’t envision ever affording a house. That’s the opposite of the American dream.

I will defend our flat tax, oppose new taxes, and stand up to radical environmental policies that raise the cost of our gas and electricity. You can count on me to introduce policies that break down barriers to work and make it easier to start and run a business.

We also need to balance community needs with individual property rights. Regulations are often stacked against the homeowner. But on the flip side, neighborhoods are often harmed by the presence of Airbnbs or homes that are converted to businesses. With the right regulatory and economic policies, we will put ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren in a better position to succeed.

✓ Support Parents & Students

Students thrive with two key ingredients: involved parents and a learning environment that meets their needs. While we were raising our daughters, I worried about making sure they were prepared for life, and education was a big part. I want schools to focus first on the basics of education like reading, writing and math. I do not want our schools’ resources going to propaganda and indoctrination of our children.

I want schools that are responsive to students’ and parent’s' needs. We need to support parents so they can be engaged in their child’s education and we need to ensure students have the right learning environment. All education options have merit and every student needs something different.

As a student who attended both public and private schools and a father who utilized open enrollment and school options for my daughters, and as a school board member of a non-profit public charter school, I support education options like the ESA program.

One size doesn’t fit all and families should be able to access what works for their child, regardless of where they live or how much money they make. I am going to protect this for any family that needs it. As a former School Resource Officer, I have experience with school safety. Ensuring our students are safe in the classroom will be a critical priority.
